She drank, smoked weed, shop lifted, dropped out of school, entered wrong relationships and ended up being a mom in her teens. Over the years, she piled on those extra pounds which made her sink into depression. A vacation at Hawaii made her discover running which ultimately gave her a purpose in life. Her running achievements made her father proud of her and eventually reconcile with her.

When he loses his battle to Pancreatic cancer, Julie decides to turn her passion into a purpose of raising funds for the fight against Pancreatic cancer. In 2012/2013, Julie ran 52 marathons and raised a half a million dollars for the cause along with the support of her coach cum partner David Levine. After a rather stressful year, it ultimately results in a fairy tale ending for Julie.

She manages to take the readers through her emotions and all her marathon experiences.. Whether it is the Boston Marathon, the Colorado marathon or the LA marathon, she embodies the true runner spirit in every race of hers  in the riveting pages of this memoir. She also explains her tryst with the Los Angeles Road runners, her relationship with David and  tips to take up running.

She proclaims that at 37 she was reborn and how something awoke in her after that first accidental run at Hawaii. Uplifting and incredible, this is a book that will resonate with every runner out there.  Especially a particular line where she states "Running felt like an old friend to me. It was there whenever I needed it."
